Demling joins MKFM after serving as a judge for 21 years in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court of DuPage County. He will represent and advise clients in divorce and family law cases.

DuPage County attorney John Demling has more than 40 years of experience as both an attorney and a judge. He was appointed as an associate judge in 1997 and served 18 years in the Domestic Relations Division, including as the Presiding Judge from 2016 to 2017.
Demling has presided over hundreds of divorce cases and has resolved complex matters involving the allocation of parental responsibilities, child relocation, spousal maintenance, and domestic violence. He completed the Family Mediation Program presented by The John Paul Jones Group for the Illinois Supreme Court in 2007.
Before becoming a judge, Demling was the managing attorney for the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company’s surety claims office. He was previously a partner in the firm Demling & Eckhardt, focusing on civil litigation in the area of mechanics’ liens.
Demling is currently a director of the DuPage Legal Assistance Foundation. He was elected as the Village President of the Village of Glen Ellyn in 1993, serving until 1997.
