Catherine D. Sheehan
“Attorneys are like coaches, helping clients to cross the finish line of any legal problem. As a top ranked trial lawyer with twenty years of litigation experience, let me be your coach.”

Catherine D. Sheehan

Attorney

Catherine is a seasoned trial attorney who has taken hundreds of cases to verdict and judgment in jury and bench trials in both state and federal court. She has been named by Illinois Super Lawyers as one of the top attorneys in the state for 7 consecutive years and was identified as one of the top 40 trial attorneys in Illinois under the age of 40 by a national trial lawyer organization.

Before joining Mirabella, Kincaid, Frederick and Mirabella, LLC, Catherine represented clients in abuse and neglect claims brought by the Department of Children and Family Services (“DCFS”) both as a public defender and as in-house counsel for the largest private Guardian ad Litem organization in the State of Illinois. She also has extensive experience representing seniors and disabled persons who experienced abuse and neglect in nursing homes and in guardianship proceedings.

After going through her own divorce, Catherine became interested in pursuing a career in family law and joined the team at Mirabella Kincaid Frederick & Mirabella, LLC as an associate attorney where she now represents clients in divorce proceedings, parentage cases, guardianship matters and claims brought by DCFS. According to Catherine:

“When I went through my divorce, I felt that my lawyers did not fight hard enough for me. While I am an attorney, I was new to this area of law and felt lost. I started to think that as an experienced trial lawyer – if I felt overwhelmed by the divorce process – how must other people feel who don’t have my education and professional background? I saw a space in the family law market to use my litigation experience representing the most marginalized persons in our community – and apply it to persons going through divorce proceedings. When representing abused and neglected children, seniors or disabled persons, lawyers have to operate at a high level, be detailed oriented, understand complex material, act precisely in executing case strategy – and fight aggressively for their clients. Now, as a member of Mirabella Kincaid Frederick & Mirabella, LLC, I am humbled to work with an incredible group of legal professionals who share my passion for people and commitment to excellence in advocating for our clients.”

Outside of the office, Catherine enjoys arranging flowers and cooking for family and friends. An adventurer at heart, she has traveled all over the world and is always planning a new trip. She shares these passions with her wonderful partner, three amazing kids, pug and a cat.
